Specification

ASTM A192 tube are low carbon steel tubes with 0.06-0.18 % carbon content with combination of 0.27-0.63 % manganese. these tubes are also known as mild steel pipes and tubes. astm a192 tube is low-cost tube easy to form and shape. these pipes are manufactured as per ASME specification and commercially referred as cs pipes or ms pipes. low carbon steel pipes are not as hard as hig carbon steel pipes,though carburizing can increase its surface hardness.


ASTM A192 is the standard specification for seamless carbon steel boiler tubes for high-pressure service. astm a192 tube is applied as minimum-wall-thickness, seamless carbon steel boiler, and superheater tubes for high-pressure service. centerway supplies astm a192 tube in hot rolled and cold drawn delivery state, it is generally used for high-pressure boiler (working pressure does not exceed 9.8mpa and the working temperature between 450 ℃ -650 ℃) heating surface tubes, header, economizer, superheater, reheater.

What is the yield strength of ASTM A192?

The tensile strength and yield strength of the ASTM A192/ ASME SA-192 tube are 325 MPa and 180 MPa at room temperature, respectively.

*T.S.: tensile strength; *Y.S.: yield strength; *El.: elongation.
*The Brinell Hardness number applies to ASTM A192 tubes 0.200″ [5.1 mm] and over in wall thickness.
*The Rockwell Hardness number applies to ASTM A192 tubes less than 0.200″ [5.1 mm] in wall thickness.

*Mechanical properties don’t apply to tubing smaller than 1/8″ [3.2 mm] inside diameter or 0.015″ [0.4 mm] thickness.


Mechanical Tests Required:

Flattening test, flaring test, hardness test, hydrostatic test, and tension test.

Process

The ASTM A192 boiler tubes/ superheater tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be either hot-finished or cold-finished. Hot-finished tubes need not be heat treated. Cold-finished tube shall be heat treated after the final cold-finishing at a temperature of 1200°F [650°C] or higher.
