Surface Dust Removal and Preheating of Steel Pipes

Date:2024-05-24

Surface Dust Removal of Steel Pipes

Secondary Treatment: After shot blasting the steel pipe to remove rust, a micro-dust treatment device is used for a secondary cleaning of the outer surface before the next process, which is high-pressure electrostatic spraying of epoxy powder. This ensures the removal of any remaining rust powder and dust particles. The epoxy powder coating must be applied within 4 hours. If the surface rusts again or the 4-hour window is exceeded, surface pretreatment must be repeated.
Procedure: Start the exhaust fan on the dust removal device first, then the dust removal motor. If production needs to be paused, stop the dust removal motor first, then the exhaust fan.
Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the dust from the cyclone dust collector to prevent excessive accumulation, which could impair dust removal efficiency.
Monitoring: Regularly check the operation of the exhaust fan after activating the micro-dust device.
Maintenance: Dust removal electrodes should be maintained periodically to ensure proper functioning.
Inspection Frequency: During anti-corrosion production, inspect the effectiveness of the surface dust removal process at least once per hour.

Preheating of Steel Pipes

Preheating Process: After the micro-dust treatment, the steel pipes must undergo preheating before applying the epoxy powder coating. This is done using a KGPS-750uw constant power intermediate frequency machine. The preheat temperature must meet the requirements of the epoxy powder coating, but it should not exceed 275°C.
Water Level Check: Verify the water level in the intermediate frequency circulation water pool, ensuring it is between 2.5 to 3 cubic meters. Start the intermediate frequency circulation water pump and check all water pipes for leaks. Only when the circulation water system is confirmed to be functioning correctly can the intermediate frequency device be activated.
Power Adjustment: Adjust the output power of the intermediate frequency heating based on the pipe diameter and the required heating temperature, using test pipes on the production line to determine the correct settings.
Temperature Measurement: Use advanced thermometers to measure the preheat temperature of the steel pipes accurately. This ensures that the preheat temperature during powder coating is within the recommended range specified by the powder coating manufacturer.
Temperature Recording: During anti-corrosion production, measure and record the preheat temperature of the steel pipes at least once per hour to ensure consistency and adherence to the specified temperature range during the epoxy powder application.
