What should be done when using seamless steel pipes?

Date:2024-06-07

Seamless steel pipes are integral to three primary industries:

Construction Industry: Essential for underground pipelines and groundwater extraction during building construction.

Manufacturing Sector: Critical for mechanical parts like bearing sleeves.

Energy Sector: Vital for gas transportation pipelines and hydroelectric fluid conduits.

Applications of seamless steel pipes include structures, fluid conveyance, various boilers, fertilizer plants, oil refining, geological and oil drilling, shipbuilding, automotive parts like axle sleeves, and diesel engines. Seamless pipes minimize leakage, enhance efficiency, and optimize material use.

Essential Treatments for Seamless Steel Pipes

Cutting: Seamless steel pipes should be precisely cut to meet specific requirements. Accurate measurements are necessary before cutting to ensure the desired dimensions. Tools like metal saws and toothless saws are typically used. Both ends of the cut pipe must be protected using fireproof heat-resistant shields to prevent spark and molten iron spatter.

Grinding: Post-cutting, the pipe ends need grinding with an angle grinder to prevent the plastic layer from melting or burning during welding, which could compromise the pipe integrity.

Plastic Coating: After grinding, a protective plastic coating should be applied. Heat the pipe ends with an oxygen-acetylene mixture until they partially melt, then apply plastic powder uniformly. Ensure thorough coating, especially for flanges, up to the water stop line. Temperature control is crucial to prevent bubbles from overheating or poor adhesion from inadequate heating.
